14TH ANNUAL “DRIVE TO SURVIVE” CAR SHOW
August 6 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm
Drive to Survive is not just another cool display of hot rods, motorcycles, classic cars, trucks and specialty vehicles. Scheduled for Saturday, August 6, at the Shadow Lake Towne Center , this annual car show builds awareness and provides support to the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Hosted by the Chevrolet Classics Club of Omaha-Council Bluffs, during the past 14 years organizers have raised more than $100,000 for cancer research, education, advocacy, and patient services. Donations are raised through event sponsorships, a live auction of donated items, and event vehicle registration fees. Many of the club members have been personally impacted by cancer which is why the car club is devoted to this cause.
New to this year’s show, an award class with kids in mind — soap box derby cars. In addition, children will be invited to participate in the Cool Kid “Car Quiz” scavenger hunt to identify certain vehicles, with awesome prizes given to those completing the activity.
Event organizers expect 100-150 vehicles to be displayed. Vehicle registration runs 9 am to 11 am. Awards will be presented in 22 categories at 2:30 pm. Participants will have the opportunity to win door prizes throughout the day.
Preregistration for entrants is recommended. The fee is $20 per vehicle; $10 for soap box derby cars. Checks should be payable to the American Cancer Society and sent to: Drive to Survive, c/o Randy Kolb, 12164 Pedersen Drive, Omaha, NE 68144.
Free public viewing is available during the show which runs from 11 am to 3 pm. A live public auction will begin at 1:30 pm featuring themed baskets, gift cards and auto related merchandise.
Businesses are invited to support the event with an auction item or corporate contribution. For more information, call Kolb at (402) 885-0643.
