After losing its season opener on the road, the Omaha Beef bounced back to win their home debut against Salina, 76-44.
Salina struck first after winning the toss and extended its lead to 10-0 after Omaha fumbled on its first rush of the night, but that’s where the Liberty’s momentum would be stopped.
With Omaha’s lead at 11, Calvin Phillips and Chris Perry made big plays to cushion the lead.
Phillips capped Omaha’s first possession of the second half with a 30-yard touchdown run — one of his five rushing touchdowns — and Perry had an interception return for a score on Salina’s ensuing possession.
The Beef ran for eight touchdowns as a team, including a late score by Perry.
Omaha will travel to Bloomington to take on the Edge on March 18.
