The Omaha Beef defeated the Quad City Steamwheelers 47-36 on Saturday night. Omaha moves to 3-4 and Quad City moves to 3-3 on the season.
Quarterback Anthony Iannotti led the offense with four total touchdowns and 118 total yards. Iannotti threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns. In the past two games Iannotti has thrown five touchdowns and rushed for five touchdowns.
Wide receivers Skyler Scott and Brandlynn Clark both found the end zone. Scott’s touchdown in the 2nd quarter gave the Beef 21-9 lead. Clark’s touchdown in the 4th quarter gave Omaha the 47-30 point lead and ultimately iced the game.
Wide receiver Daniel McKinney had the play of the game for the Beef. On the final play of the 2nd quarter, Denzel Thompson intercepted Iannotti’s pass, and during Thompson’s return McKinney stripped and regained the football in end zone for a touchdown.
Special teams provided an early spark for Omaha. Kick returner Chris Perry returned a kickoff for a 45-yard touchdown in the 1st quarter. Kicker Tucker Milliken hit two field goals, one from 39 yards.
Defensive end Rusmin Nikocevic powered the Beef defense with 1.5 sacks and 1.5 tackles for loss. Defensive ends La’Treze Mushatt and Karsman Johnson were also credited with sacks. Defensive back Jermichael Williams finished with a team-high 17 tackles.
Omaha will be on the road for the next three games. Next Saturday the Omaha Beef will play the Sioux City Bandits at the Tyson Events Center.
