Omaha’s Happy Hollow named among nation’s most charming streets – The Omaha News

By Mary Mitzlaff OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha is turning heads again, this time for its charm. A new study ranked Happy Hollow Boulevard among the top 10 streets in the nation for curb appeal, highlighting the city’s historic character and growing national appeal.

Known for its historic homes and tree-lined views, Happy Hollow Boulevard sits in the heart of the Dundee neighborhood, a place longtime resident Jill Goodrich says has always deserved recognition.

“I think it was exciting for everybody, especially in the Dundee area, because it is beautiful and it’s nice that it’s getting the attention it deserves,” Goodrich said.

That recognition, local leaders say, extends beyond one street. Merrick Brtek, director of workforce development at the Greater Omaha Chamber, said Omaha’s growing number of national rankings helps reshape how outsiders see the city.

“I think that people don’t fully understand that we’re a big, beautiful city, that we’re a metro of over a million people, and we have these gorgeous neighborhoods. So ranking in the top 10 for streets is an awesome showcase and hopefully will help change the perception of what people see Omaha to be. And maybe they’ll want to come visit us, check it out, and see all of our beautiful neighborhoods.”

Beyond its charm, Omaha continues to gain national attention for quality of life. In recent years, the city has consistently ranked among the best nationwide for jobs, affordability and livability.

Goodrich said that mix of opportunity and community spirit gives Omaha its unique character.

“Omaha is kind of like a big city in a small town,” she said. “There’s a lot to do here. I always tell people that are moving here, if you can’t find something to do every weekend, you’re not looking hard enough because there’s something to do every weekend.”

Whether it’s the historic beauty of Happy Hollow or the city’s growing reputation as a great place to live and work, Omaha’s charm continues to make a lasting impression.
