A show beyond the game
The Harlem Globetrotters brought more than just basketball to Baxter Arena last Thursday night, delivering a high-energy performance that blended skill, comedy and fan interaction.
Known for their unique style of play, the Globetrotters turned the court into a stage, keeping fans engaged from start to finish. From trick shots to crowd involvement, the event offered something different from a traditional basketball game.
A unique experience for fans
For fans in attendance, that difference stood out immediately.
“There’s a lot of entertainment that they provide that’s not necessarily something you would see in a normal basketball game,” said Peter Veledez.
Celebrating 100 years on tour
The Globetrotters’ performance is part of their ongoing world tour, which also celebrates a major milestone for the team.
“It’s our 100-year anniversary. We’ve been doing this since 1926,” said player Andrew “Big Dog” Whitsett. “And we’re on our world tour. One thing I want the kids to remember at the end of the day is to have fun, love your job and just enjoy it at the end of the day.”
More than basketball
That message was reflected throughout the night, as players interacted with fans of all ages, creating moments both on and off the court.
Whether it was through humor, skill or connection with the crowd, the Globetrotters showed that their impact goes beyond basketball—turning each game into an experience fans won’t forget.
