Hello, NowOmaha.com readers! The first morning you have to scrape the windshield before work is when this drink earns its spot. Ripe pears are at their sweetest right now, and a little vanilla turns them into something that tastes like the inside of a warm bakery, even when the wind is coming hard off the river. It is light, bubbly, and easy enough to make on a weeknight.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 2 oz pear nectar
- 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 oz vanilla simple syrup (or 1/4 oz simple syrup plus 2 drops vanilla extract)
- 2 oz club soda
- Sugar for the rim, a thin pear slice and a lemon wedge for garnish
- Ice
Instructions:
- Run a lemon wedge around the rim of a tall glass and dip it in sugar.
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Shake the vodka, pear nectar, lemon juice and vanilla syrup with ice for 10 seconds.
- Strain into the glass and top with club soda.
- Garnish with the pear slice and lemon wedge.
Make one while the furnace kicks on for the first real time this season. Cheers to frost on the pumpkins, Omaha!
