Drink of the Week: Mulled Wine

Mulled Wine is a traditional and comforting winter drink that is perfect for entertaining or just enjoying a warm drink on a cold evening. It’s made by heating wine, sugar, and spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, and is typically served warm in a glass or mug. It’s easy to make and you can use any type of red wine you like.

To make a Mulled Wine you will need:

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of grated nutmeg
  • 1 orange, sliced

In a pot, combine the wine, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg and orange slices. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it simmers. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, being careful not to boil the wine. After 10 minutes strain it and serve it warm.
