The Zoo and Aquarium is currently closed to the public, but continues its commitment to animals, conservation efforts, and the Omaha community, like we hope you will do by renewing your membership today.
As a non-profit, the Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium exclusively relies on proceeds from community donations, membership sales, and ticketed programs to support the Zoo’s animals and operations. By putting your dollars into Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium now, you are helping guarantee the Zoo’s ability to care for thousands of species during this difficult time. Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s Membership Drive continues to offer memberships at a discounted rate through Sunday, March 29. Renewing adds 12 more months of Zoo access to your current membership. New membership purchases are valid for one year from the date of purchase. The Zoo also will be extending all membership expiration dates equivalent to the number of days the Zoo is closed to the public due to the coronavirus crisis.
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium staff will continue to monitor this situation and hope to re-activate all plans soon. There is much planned at the Zoo with Owen Sea Lion Shores opening in the fall and an ongoing schedule of education programs. In the meantime, the Zoo is providing many opportunities to stay connected with the public.
People are encouraged to visit the Zoo’s social media channels for content to educate and entertain, and opportunities to virtually visit the Zoo. There will be a new interactive video highlighting animal enrichment, behind-the-scenes experiences and other educational activities at 2 p.m. central time every day on Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s Facebook page. This daily content is also shared on the Zoo’s Instagram and Twitter. These videos, plus additional educational materials, will also be available on OmahaZoo.com/Zoo-From-Home.
If visitors would like to experience a customized virtual tour of the Zoo for a class or group coming together online, Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is also offering virtual field trips. These virtual field trips can bring the Zoo to you on your schedule, including information that is important to you and complements your goal.
