Mother’s Day Ideas | Visit Omaha

After a year of quarantine and online learning, parents deserve more than just your appreciation. To help you celebrate Mother’s Day, businesses in Omaha are ready to help, and there’s no shortage of gift ideas from local businesses.

Pamper your mom (or a special mom in your life) with a variety of tempting options. From high tea in the forest and sporting events to artisan chocolates and drinkware for her favorite beverage, Omaha has something for everyone.

1. Indulgent Chocolates

If your mother likes sweets, check out Chocolat Abeille. The family-owned chocolatier combines fresh flavors and nature-inspired design into delicately crafted works of art. Five of their signature pieces are combined with wildflower honey from their own bees. They’ve also created a special line of wildlife-themed chocolates to support Nebraska Wildlife Rehab. They’re in the process of moving locations, so visit chocolatabeille.com to order chocolate and honey treats in the meantime.

2. Get Creative

Sign Mom up for a creative workshop at Hot Shops Art Center, where her artistic side can shine. With more than 80 working artists creating in this 92,000 sq. ft. renovated warehouse, Hot Shops also offers a variety of workshops for adults, children and groups in an array of mediums – from pottery to jewelry and glass blowing to photography.

3. Locally Crafted Goods

Made in Omaha sells items created in the metro area. Since 2018, Made in Omaha has worked to connect artists and makers so that we can grow the community through relationships and collaborations. Mom will enjoy candles, clothing and drinkware with an Omaha or Nebraska theme, plus other gift items like puzzles, artwork and stationery. Plus, build your own Mother’s Day gift box with items like salt soak, biscotti and teas on their website.

4. High Tea and Talons Event

Give Mom a unique Mother’s Day experience she won’t forget at Fontenelle Forest. She’ll enjoy tea, coffee, and sweets like macaroons and cupcakes while she sees and learns all about birds of prey like owls and hawks. Fancy dress is encouraged, and be sure to wear your best high tea hat – there’s a “best hat” contest. The cost is $10 for members and $20 for non-members. Advanced registration is required for this event.

5. Catch a Ball Game

Get mom out of the house and out to the ballpark this spring. Buy tickets to an upcoming Omaha Storm Chasers game and see the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals take the field at Werner Park. Bonus: The Storm Chasers play at-home this Mother’s Day weekend, with fireworks on Saturday, May 8.
