The most useful family plan for Saturday, November 14, is not a race across the metro. It is one outing that matches the child you are taking. A dinosaur fan, a child hoping to meet Bluey and a sixth grader who wants to make something with friends do not need the same afternoon.
These verified library programs offer three different reasons to leave the house. The important distinctions are age, registration and the part of the schedule that actually delivers what your child is anticipating. Pick one anchor, then leave yourself room for an ordinary meal and the trip home.
For the school-age dinosaur fan: Papillion at 10 a.m.
Stomp, Chomp, Roar! brings Dinosaur Ranger Anthony to Sump Memorial Library’s Youth Department from 10 to 11 a.m. on November 14. The audience is the library’s ages 5 to 8 and 9 to 12 groups. Sump is at 222 N Jefferson Street.
This is the clearest match for a child who wants a program about dinosaurs. It is not advertised as a toddler storytime, a fossil purchase opportunity or an all-day festival. The primary page does not publish a price, so we are not calling it free. Check that detail with the library before making it your family’s plan.
For the Bluey fan: Bellevue’s first hour matters
Bluey Bash runs noon to 3 p.m. at Bellevue Public Library, 2206 Longo Drive, Suite 100. But the character meeting with Bluey and Bingo is only noon to 1 p.m. Hands-on activities follow from 1 to 3.
That split is the whole planning story. If your child has been talking about meeting the characters, arriving midafternoon could produce a very different outing from the one you promised. The library welcomes families with children from birth through sixth grade. Its event page does not state a price, and we will not turn the absence of a fee field into a $0 claim.
For makers: Council Bluffs has two different age lanes
At Council Bluffs Public Library, 400 Willow Avenue, Finger Knit Scarf is a 10 a.m. to noon class for grades 4 through 6 in the Tree House. It requires registration, and that closes at 3 p.m. Friday, November 13. Decide before Saturday morning, then verify space on the registration page.
Older children have a different option: Anime Club meets from 2 to 3 p.m. in Teen Central for grades 6 through 12. Participants can make Shrinky Dink anime pins, discuss anime and have Japanese snacks. It is a drop-in activity, with supplies available while they last.
Both Council Bluffs programs are free under the library’s published programming policy. Free still does not erase the age guidance, a registration deadline or limited supplies.
Do less, and make the one thing count
Our vote is for matching the activity to the child rather than assembling an impressive-looking itinerary. A registered class should not compete with a rushed character visit in another city. A teen making pins with peers may have no interest in a younger sibling’s dinosaur hour. If your household splits up, make that a deliberate choice rather than discovering the mismatch in the parking lot.
Times are CST on Saturday, November 14, 2026. Checked November 6. Follow the organizer links for changes and current registration availability.
