As part of the 12 Days of Giving from Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, 2 Free Zoo Admissions per party are announced as the Day 2 Gift for tomorrow. The prize of 2 Free Zoo Admissions per party must be redeemed on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, only.
Prizes will continue daily through Friday, Dec. 24, and are expected to range from Simmons Wildlife Safari Park packages to same-day animal experiences. The day’s prize will be announced each morning at 7 a.m. CST on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; and also through an eNews email to Zoo members the evening prior. The winner will either be a visitor to Zoo grounds that day or selected via the Zoo’s Facebook or Instagram pages. The details of how to win the daily prize will be explained in the social posts and email.
“Looking back on the year, unprecedented is still certainly one of the most common words heard to describe 2021. Unprecedented has also been the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and the Omaha community,” said Dennis Pate, president and CEO of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. “As a way to say thank you, we are excited to offer these festive daily surprises to help celebrate the holiday season together.”
The Zoo has seven acres of indoor exhibits to enjoy during the winter months. In the Lied Jungle, visitors are transported to the hot and humid climate of a rainforest while viewing species such as Malayan tapirs, monkeys and macaws. The Desert Dome, the largest indoor desert in the world, offers 42,000 square feet of desert native plant and animal species. The Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium allows visitors to come nose-to-nose with sea turtles and sharks in its 70-foot shark tunnel.
The Durham TreeTops Restaurant offers hot and cold food options, as well as indoor seating. The Lozier Giant Screen Theater is free for members or $7 per person for non-members. Films currently playing are:
- Great Barrier Reef 2D – 11 a.m. 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Sea Lions – Life by a Whisker 2D – 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
Omaha’s Zoo and Aquarium is currently open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Lied Jungle closes at 3 p.m. and the other exhibit buildings close at 5 p.m. The Zoo is closed on Christmas Day.
