Storm Chasers Unveil Talented 2024 Opening Day Roster

The Omaha Storm Chasers, in collaboration with the Kansas City Royals, have announced an impressive Opening Day roster for the 2024 season. The 28-player active roster features a mix of returning talent and exciting newcomers as the team prepares to kick off the season at Werner Park on Friday, March 29 against the Iowa Cubs.

Fans will recognize 17 players from the 2023 squad, while 11 new faces join the Storm Chasers this year. Three players are set to make their Triple-A debuts, and the roster boasts 10 members of the Royals’ 40-man roster. The team also brings a wealth of MLB experience, with 16 players combining for 1,718 games played at the highest level.

The roster is headlined by five top prospects in the Royals organization. Outfielder Tyler Gentry, ranked as the No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline, spent the entire 2023 season with Omaha before being added to the Royals’ 40-man roster. Pitchers Anthony Veneziano (No. 14), Will Klein (No. 19), and Jonathan Bowlan (No. 19) also return after making their Triple-A debuts last year. Right-hander John McMillon (No. 18) will make his Triple-A debut this season after being promoted directly from Double-A to the majors in 2023.

Other notable returners include first baseman Nick Pratto, outfielder Drew Waters, and left-handed pitcher Daniel Lynch IV, all of whom have significant MLB experience with the Royals. Among the newcomers, former Creighton infielder Ryan Fitzgerald brings a local connection, while veteran pitchers Dan Altavilla, Luis Cessa, Tyler Duffey, and Sam Long add depth and experience to the pitching staff.

“We’re excited about the talent and potential of this group,” said Storm Chasers President Martie Cordaro. “With a strong core of returning players and the addition of experienced veterans and top prospects, we believe this team is poised for success in 2024.”

The Storm Chasers begin their season on Friday, March 29, at 6:05 p.m. against the Iowa Cubs at Werner Park. Single-game tickets are now available at omahastormchasers.com or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
