OMAHA Neb. – Indy Finds Consistency in Straight-Set Win
The Omaha Supernovas were swept by the Indy Ignite on Saturday night, falling in straight sets 21-25, 19-25, and 21-25.
Indy controlled much of the match, using steady execution and timely scoring runs to keep Omaha from gaining traction in any of the three sets.
Costly Mistakes Limit Omaha
While the Supernovas showed energy throughout the match, small mistakes proved to be the difference.
Outside hitter Merritt Beason pointed to those moments as a key factor after the match.
“The energy… just hyping each other up and going after everything… those little things were things we didn’t take care of tonight.”
Omaha remained competitive in stretches but struggled to string together consistent runs, allowing Indy to maintain control late in each set.
Offensive Leaders for Both Sides
Regan Cooper led the Supernovas with 12 points, while Brooke Nuneviller added 10.
On the other side, Indy’s offense was led by Anna DeBeer, who finished with a match-high 17 points. Ashanti Tealer contributed 15, helping power an attack that stayed efficient throughout each set.
Execution Sets Indy Apart
Indy’s ability to execute in key moments at the net and the ability to finish rallies, ultimately separated the two teams.
Head coach Lauren Bertolacci credited her team’s improvement across multiple areas.
“Getting better in a lot of areas… it was nice to see that being executed a little bit more today.”
After a rough stretch the last five games, coach Bertolacci was proud to see her team respond the way they did.
Strong Crowd Despite the Result
Despite the loss, the atmosphere inside the arena remained strong. The crowd stayed engaged throughout the match, providing consistent support for the Supernovas. A strong resilient crowd of 9,000 stayed until the very end, hoping for a comeback win for the Supernovas.
The turnout and energy continues to reflect the growing interest in professional volleyball as the league continues to grow every year. The Supernovas are in action Friday April 10, as a new scenery sets in as interim head coach Thomas Robson will appear in his first game for the Supernovas as they take on Grand Rapids Rise at CHI Health Center.
