Husker Parties, Free Jazz, and Disco Fever: A Weekend in Omaha

Nebraska Cornhuskers football is back, and this Saturday, August 31st, the team takes the field with high hopes for the 2024 season. Fans are gearing up for a vintage Husker experience, and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a Husker Tailgate & Watch Party. One of the biggest events is happening at the Granary & Bushwackers in Ralston, where you can catch the Cornhuskers vs. UTEP game on a 27-foot mega-screen. The outdoor space at 74th and Main streets will be filled with fans, lawn chairs, and the smell of grilling food, bringing Lincoln’s gameday vibe to Ralston. Also on Saturday, Turner Park at Midtown Crossing will host the annual LOVAM Jazz Festival. This year’s lineup features world-class horn player Rick Braun and 16-time Billboard No. 1 artist Adam Hawley. Local funk and jazz band Wood Hoops, along with the Central High School Jazz Band, will also take the stage, bringing a mix of smooth and funky sounds to the heart of Omaha. Best of all, this fantastic evening of music is free and open to everyone.
