2021 Omaha Metropolitan Area Tourism Award Winners Announced

OMAHA, NE. May 4, 2021 –The votes are in for the Omaha Metropolitan Area (OMA) Tourism Awards recognizing the best tourism businesses in Douglas, Sarpy, and Pottawattamie counties. This year, the public nominated and voted for their favorites. More than 6,000 votes were cast across the three counties and below are the winners in four categories: Best Hotel, Best Restaurant, Best Attraction, and Best Retail Business

Douglas County

  • Best Attraction
    • Winner: Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium
    • 2nd Place: Hot Shops Art Center
    • Honorable Mention: Lauritzen Gardens, The Old Market, General Crook House Museum, and Omaha Performing Arts
  • Best Hotel
    • Winner: Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District
    • 2nd Place: Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel
    • Honorable Mention: Magnolia Hotel Omaha, Embassy Suites by Hilton Omaha Downtown/Old Market, Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Omaha Northwest, and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Omaha West
  • Best Restaurant
    • Winner: Pitch Pizzeria
    • 2nd Place: V. Mertz
    • Honorable Mention: Spaghetti Works, Trini’s Mexican Restaurant, and Curry in a Hurry
  • Best Retail Business
    • Winner: Made in Omaha
    • 2nd Place: The Next Chapter
    • Honorable Mention: Nouvelle Eve, Niche, Hearthside Candles & Curios, and The Chute

Pottawattamie County

  • Best Attraction
    • Winner: Ditmars Orchard & Vineyard
    • 2nd Place (tie): Union Pacific Railroad Museum and Wabash Trace Nature Trail
    • Honorable Mention: Historic General Dodge House, Hoff Family Arts & Culture Center, and Joe’s Indoor Karting
  • Best Hotel
    • Winner: Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites @ Ameristar
    • 2nd Place: Ameristar Casino Hotel
    • Honorable Mention: SpringHill Suites by Marriott, BridgePointe Inn & Suites, and Microtell Inn & Suites
  • Best Restaurant
    • Winner: Pizza King
    • 2nd Place: Barley’s Bar & Grill
    • Honorable Mention: 712 eat + drink; Lincoln’s Pub, and Em & Liv’s Hard Bean Coffee
  • Best Retail Business
    • Winner: Anytime Tees
    • 2nd Place: Rustic Cuts Butcher Shop
    • Honorable Mention: Dusted Charm, Bass Pro Shops, and Olive Branch

Sarpy County

  • Best Attraction
    • Winner: Vala’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard
    • 2nd Place: Omaha Storm Chasers
    • Honorable Mention: Fontenelle Forest, Union Omaha, Papio Fun Park, and TreeRush Adventures
  • Best Hotel
    • Winner: Embassy Suites by Hilton La Vista
    • 2nd Place: Courtyard by Marriott Bellevue
    • Honorable Mention: Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Papillion, Courtyard by Marriott La Vista, SureStay Plus Hotel Omaha South
  • Best Restaurant
    • Winner: Stella’s Bar & Grill
    • 2nd Place: Copp’s Pizza Company
    • Honorable Mention: Ollie & Hobbes Craft Kitchen, Umami Asian Cuisine, Miyake Sushi, and Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews
  • Best Retail Business
    • Winner: Nebraska Crossing
    • 2nd Place: Shadow Lake Towne Center
    • Honorable Mention: Diana’s Papillion Tea Shop, Kajoma’s Fashion Boutique, and 402 VINYL

Winners will be highlighted in promotional videos on social media beginning May 4, coinciding with National Travel & Tourism Week. Additionally, winners will be featured on area billboards May 7-20.

The OMA Tourism Awards are presented in partnership with the Council Bluffs Convention & Visitors Bureau, Sarpy County Tourism, and Visit Omaha to honor the more than 18,000 local residents who work in the tourism industry. This year, the awards provided the opportunity to shine a light on the strength, unity and resilience of our local tourism community during a challenging time.
