Drink of the Week: the Thai Basil Martini

Thai basil is a unique and flavorful herb that can be used to make a variety of cocktails. One of the most popular is the Thai Basil Martini, which is made by muddling Thai basil and gin together and then adding lime juice and simple syrup. To make a Thai Basil Martini you will need:

  • 8-10 Thai basil leaves
  • 2 oz gin
  • 3/4 oz lime juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • Thai basil leaves, for garnish

In a shaker, muddle the Thai basil leaves. Then add gin, lime juice and simple syrup. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a few Thai basil leaves. The Thai basil adds a unique and subtle licorice flavor to the gin and the lime and simple syrup balance it out.
