High-End and Unique Hotels Join Omaha’s Tourism Landscape

OMAHA, NE. December 2, 2020 – Despite a challenging year, Omaha is preparing to welcome five new hotel properties, each offering a new lodging experience for the city’s visitors.

“These new properties are an example of our city’s continued growth,” said Visit Omaha Interim Executive Director Deborah Ward. “By adding deluxe collections such as a Kimpton, Curio and Autograph, Omaha visitors will have access to some of the most unique hotels in the Midwest.”

Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel – The Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel is the result of a $75 million renovation of the historic Blackstone Hotel, a 1920s landmark once renowned as the premier stopover between coasts. U.S. President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy spent their fifth wedding anniversary at the Blackstone, and Richard Nixon announced his candidacy for the presidency from the rooftop ballroom in 1967. This is also where the legendary Reuben sandwich was invented – the poker table where the Reuben was first served is now part of the new hotel décor. With 205 plush rooms, the Cottonwood pays homage to its storied past while breathing contemporary life and luxury into this classic location. And yes, you will find the original Reuben sandwich on the menu. The Cottonwood Hotel opened in November 2020.

Hotel Indigo – With a heavy nod to the city’s history of bootlegging, Hotel Indigo marries Prohibition-era underground vaults and tunnels with a sophisticated ambiance. Steps away from museums, music and fine dining – you will be immersed in culture during your stay. Hotel Indigo, with 90 guest rooms, opens in the spring of 2021.

The Peregrine Hotel Omaha Downtown, Curio Collection by Hilton – This 106-year-old historic building has undergone a $14.6 million renovation. Located downtown, the Peregrine Hotel gets its name from the popular feathered falcons who nest on the neighboring office tower. The theme is carried throughout the hotel, including a six-story mural of an art deco falcon and a rooftop bar called the Takeoff. This 89-room property is part of the high-end Curio Collection by Hilton that highlights modern style with an artistic flair. The Peregrine opens to guests in early 2021.

The Farnam Hotel, Autograph Collection – Opening in spring 2021, this boutique luxury property in the Old Market offers 11-foot ceilings and a panoramic view of downtown with floor to ceiling windows. The Farnam Hotel will include two restaurants and a large outdoor patio with interior details that reflect Omaha’s history.

Tru by Hilton and Home2 Suites – A rare dual-brand property will open in Omaha in April 2021. The $18 million project will contain two different Hilton properties in one location near Aksarben Village, in the central part of the city. With 138 rooms, guests will check in at one lobby and then stay in one of two wings: the Home2 Suites extended stay or the concentrated comfort of the Tru brand rooms.
