The Scoop: Love triumphs in this stunning original production of Beethoven’s only opera, “Fidelio,” designed by Omaha’s own world-renowned artist, Jun Kaneko. This production — never before seen in Omaha — completes Jun Kaneko’s operatic triptych following the phenomenal “Madama Butterfly” and “The Magic Flute.” After acclaimed performances coast to coast, from San Francisco to Washington D.C., Opera Omaha is proud to be Jun Kaneko’s operatic home. “Fidelio” resonates as much today as it did two centuries ago: Love and faith triumph over injustice and tyranny. Conductor Nicholas Cleobury and director Michael Shell return to Omaha to lead a prominent cast of singers including soprano Wendy Bryn Harmer in the title role, tenor Bryan Register, and bass-baritone Kevin Short.
