Omaha Zoo

How to Support Australian Wildlife and Their Habitats

“Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is greatly concerned about the devastating impact of the bushfires on Australian wildlife and their habitats,” said Dr. Cheryl Morris, vice president of conservation at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. “We are committed to supporting Australia’s zoos working on the front lines of this fight to care for injured wildlife. Currently their needs are primarily financial to provide the emergency veterinary care required. We will continue to monitor their situation over the coming weeks and months to assist in the care, preservation and restoration following this devastation.”

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is sending two donations of $2,500 each to organizations assisting with the emergency care needed for animals in Australia.

  • Zoos Victoria is running a Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund: https://www.zoo.org.au/firefund/. All funds raised will be used for critical care and long-term recovery of Australian Wildlife.
  • WIRES (New South Wales Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc.) has been rescuing and caring for wildlife for over 30 years and is the largest wildlife rescue organization in Australia. WIRES is rescuing and caring for as many sick, injured and orphaned native animals as possible. To help, please support WIRES Emergency Fund at https://www.wires.org.au/donate/emergency-fund
