Westbound Loop Ramp to I-80
The westbound loop ramp to I-80 from northbound 13th Street will be closing at 5 a.m. on Monday, October 16 for about 30 days. Northbound traffic on 13th Street will not be able to access westbound Interstate 80 via the entrance loop. Recommended alternative routes:
- Travel eastbound on interstate into Council Bluffs and return westbound via the 24th Street exit, enter back onto Interstate 80
- Travel southbound on 13th Street and access northbound JFK Freeway via F Street ramp or L Street ramp
- Travel northbound on 13th Street and access southbound Interstate 480 via the Martha Street ramp
- Travel southbound on 13th Street ramp and head northbound to make a U-turn when possible to head southbound
Parts of I-80, I-29 Temporarily Closing
Parts of Interstates 80 and 29 in Council Bluffs will close temporarily beginning Sunday night, November 5, diverting some traffic onto Interstate 480 in Omaha. These closures are part of the Iowa Department of Transportation’s reconstruction project for 18 miles of Interstates 80, 480 and 29 in the Bluffs.
Southbound I-29 between Ninth Avenue and Nebraska Avenue will be closed from 10:30 p.m. Sunday to 5:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10. The closing is for demolition of part of the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge.
Northbound I-29 then will close from 10:30 p.m. Nov. 12 through 5:30 a.m. Nov. 17.
Drivers on I-29 can take either I-480 into Omaha or surface roads in Council Bluffs during those periods. Traffic on I-480 in Omaha likely will be heavier than normal during that time.
Also in Council Bluffs, eastbound and westbound I-80 will be closed at the I-80/I-29 interchange, or exit 1, from 10 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday and nightly from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
